Ministers of the Word
Ministers of the Word proclaim the Scriptures at Mass, helping the community encounter God through His Word.
Those who wish to serve in this ministry must be fully initiated Catholics in good standing with the Church, be at least 18 years of age, have a clear speaking voice, feel confident reading before a congregation, and attend Mass regularly.
All Ministers of the Word complete a diocesan formation program. The names of those serving in this ministry are submitted to the Diocese of Hamilton, after which they receive an official three-year (renewable) mandate from the Bishop to serve at St. Andrew Parish.
If you are of high school age or younger, our Children’s Choir offers an excellent training program for proclaiming the Word.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion assist with the distribution of Holy Communion during Mass.
Those who wish to serve in this ministry must be at least 18 years of age, be fully initiated Catholics in good standing with the Church, attend Mass regularly, and complete the required diocesan formation program.
The names of those serving in this ministry are submitted to the Diocese of Hamilton and, in turn, receive an official three-year mandate from the Bishop to serve within our parish.
